Melmerby 10k
Potentially the fastest course in the Series, but it can be windy and 2 of the last 3 years it has been wet, so nobody has recently been close to breaking the course record of 29.49, set in 1996 by Kevin McCluskey of Salford Harriers. Last years winning time of 30.56 was the fastest for some years and was run by Leeds City runner Darran Bilton, the day was wet with similar conditions to those at this years Fountains 10k.
The race routes takes you out of Melmerby in the direction of Wath but turns right just before you enter Wath, you are then running on flat narrow country lanes, eventually reaching the village of Sutton Howgrave, you run a lap of the village then back out on the road you came in on in the direction of Wath, you reach Wath run through the village and back towards Melmerby, finishing on the village green at the side of the Village Hall.
