The race starts in the village and makes it's way out of the village in a southerly direction along a narrow country lane, you then enter a downhill track passing the Lime Kilns Nature Reserve. You arrive at Lime Kilns Farm and have to cross the ford, your option is, straight through the water, or over the narrow bridge and sty. In heavy rain the ford can be knee deep.
You then run up the field on a farm road turning left onto a grass track, this track is approx. 3/4 mile long, at the end of the track you drop down through a wood, turning right at the bottom, you then turn uphill and run between two woods on a rough track that eventually goes downhill to a gate on you right.
You then cross a large field with Walkingham Woods on you right, you exit the field onto a narrow lane for just over a mile, passing the village of Brearton on your left.
At the end of the lane you turn right and start to climb uphill on a track that leads to a right turn onto Raikes track, you then have a short downhill section before arriving back at the ford at Lime Kilns Farm. You are then running on the same route back to the village as your outward first mile. The race finishes on the village green.
